GPS (Global Positioning System) and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) antennas provide precise global location and timing services to radio receivers or other electronic systems based on signals received from orbiting satellites constellations. Multiple satellites operate together to triangulate a user's exact position on the earth. There are a number of systems world-wide that offer similar functionality, including GPS, Iridium, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. "Active" GNSS antennas contain additional electronic components and filters which improve antenna performance beyond what passive GNSS are capable of.
